Spring Day competitions closed!

Both competitions closed on 31 May 2008 with altogether ca. 2,000 submissions. The winners will be announced on the website at the beginning of July 2008.



MELT newsletter

Although this first newsletter was designed for those taking part in the MELT pilots, it has now been made more widely available so that teachers can find out more about using the MELT Learning Resource Exchange (LRE) for schools.

Results of eTwinning Camp in Portugal

Teachers and pupils from the winning eTwinning Prizes 2008 projects headed to Vimeiro, Portugal, from 7-11 May to spend four days by the ocean getting to know each other and taking part in both ICT and cultural activities. With a group of over 100 people, everyone had a great time and many friends were made.

Share your views about games in school – join the ones that already replied and win a prize!

We hear more and more about computer and video games. They are certainly getting more and more sophisticated, but what is their place in school? Are they useful or dangerous? What is your opinion?

Please spend a few minutes completing EUN's survey to help us understand better the place of games in teaching and learning. You also find the opportunity to join a community of practice we are setting up for European teachers using games. What's more, everyone who completes the survey has the chance to win a games product.

Primary school ICT survey and community

If you teach in a primary school, we invite you to share your ICT successes with others and join a new Europe-wide community of practice. European Schoolnet is conducting research on behalf of the European Commission into the effective use of ICT in primary schools. Participate in the STEPS survey and you could win an iPod!

Competitions and Workshops Foreign languages

Pre-registration for the Eurocompetition started!

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the euro, the European Commission will launch a poster competition for 10 to 14 years old pupils from the euro area. Teachers can pre-register for the competition on the Eurocompetition website and find out how to bring the euro to the classroom!


ICT in Education workshop in Sardinia

The Agenzia Scuola Nucleo Regionale in Cagliari, Sardinia, is organising a workshop on 28 – 31 October 2008.

The aims of this workshop are to improve the education and training of teachers and teacher trainers and to develop the necessary skills in the knowledge society. The working language is French. There is a max. of 15 places available.

We are in the process of putting the programme together for the 12 - 13 September Berlin Media Conference "Open Channels and Intercultural Dialogue - European Year of Intercultural Dialogue". MOLAN – Motivation in Language Learning

Primalingua – we speak European

“Primalingua” is looking for primary schools in different countries, which would like to participate in their part of the European Lifelong Learning Programme.

On a web-based learning platform, primary school pupils, aged 8 – 12 years, work on interactive learning units. They discover other children’s lives in different countries, their environment and culture. The project starts in October 2008 and will end in June 2009

Language project: I speak football

"I Speak Football" is an EU project to promote languages around the EURO 2008 Championships in Austria/Switzerland. This radio project has produced PODCASTS on the theme of languages and football including interviews with some well- known players and coaches. The podcasts are free for teachers and schools to download and play in the classroom.

Discussing media literacy and youth protection in Stempenhof

The third meeting of the Youth Protection Roundtable, YPRT, kicked off on 14 May, in the blossoming periphery of Nuremberg, Germany, with an exhibition of winning Safer Internet Day 2008 projects created by national finalist teams from Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, Italy, Poland and Slovenia.
