P2P FINAL CONFERENCE, BUT PEER LEARNING SHOULD CONTINUE…
The P2P final conference took place in Brussels on 26 April 2006, bringing together decision-makers from Ministries of Education and regional educational authorities, as well as practitioners in schools, national inspectors and researchers.
The aim of the conference was to enable participants to harness the potential of peer learning and promote a culture of systematic sharing and reflection at all levels in school education in Europe.

eTWINNING CAMP BRINGS YOUNG EUROPEANS TO SUNNY LANZAROTE
From 27 to 30 April, the six eTwinning Prize winning partnerships came together in Lanzarote, Canary Islands, for four days of technology-related workshops, pedagogical networking and rich intercultural exchange.
For 77 young people and 28 teachers from all over Europe, it was the occasion to meet their ‘eTwins’ in a relaxing environment for a series of activities designed for the occasion by European Schoolnet, eTwinning’s Central Support Service.

P2P REPORTS PRESENTED AT FINAL CONFERENCE
A series of reports were published as part of the P2P project. The publications include four reports as part of the policy strand of the project and one report respectively for the practice and inspection strands. They are available online on the P2P site as well as in print format.

eTWINNING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP IN PARIS
The Paris workshop for eTwinning took place on 9-11 May 2006 in the Centre international d’études pédagogiques located in Sevres just on the edge of Paris. A total of 76 persons from 18 different countries attended the workshop to discuss issues linked to the use of ICT in education and practical use of eTwinning tools.

EUN OFFICE ORGANISES SPRING DAY CHATS WITH SCHOOLS
In April and May, a large set of chats between schools in Europe and European decision-makers took place at the EUN Office.
The chats participants included on 25 April 2006, Commissioner Margot Wallstrom, Vice President of the European Commission responsible for Institutional Relations and Communication Strategy; on 2 May Commissioner Louis Michel, responsible for the development and Humanitarian aid portfolio and Martin Westlake, Head of Communications, European Economic and Social Committee on 4 May.

SPRING DAY IN EUROPE 2006 – MEETING IN PARIS
On 13-14 May 2006, Spring Day liaisons and teachers gathered in Paris, together with the EUN Spring Day team. The meeting took place to evaluate the last Spring Day in Europe campaign and plan a new one.
Ulf Lundin, executive director of European Schoolnet opened the meeting and Brigitte Parry, EUN School networking manager, summed up the general outcomes of Spring Day in Europe 2006 and its contribution to the Plan D debate.

GREEN WEEK 2006 SCHOOL COMPETITION NOMINEES ANNOUNCED
The finalists for the Green Week 2006 School Competition have been selected out of 7,000 entries. The theme of this year’s school competition was biodiversity.
The artwork category (drawings, paintings and collages) was open to younger pupils (5 to 10 years old) while the video category was for pupils aged 11 to 16.

ELEARNING AWARDS 2006 WEBSITE GOES LIVE
The English version of the elearning Awards portal went online at the beginning of May.
Other language versions including French, German, Italian, Spanish, Polish and Portuguese, will follow soon. European Schoolnet is organising the event for the sixth consecutive year.

EUN SUBMIT P2V PROPOSAL WITHIN THE ELEARNING CALL
In May, EUN submitted a project proposal ‘Peer to Peer networking for Valorisation’ (P2V) for the new eLearning programme of DG Education and Culture in the area of ‘transversal actions’.
P2V brings together eight partners with European Schoolnet as coordinator to apply the methodologies developed within the P2P project to key areas of ICT in schools: Digital resources, Media literacy and Learning platforms.

EUN VISITS YOUNG DIGITAL PLANET
Ulf Lundin, Frans van Assche and Jim Ayre from the EUN Office visited Young Digital Planet (formerly Young Digital Poland) on 10 May 2006 at the company's offices in Gdansk.
Founded in 1990, YDP now has over 360 staff and has developed an international reputation as a developer and publisher of high quality educational resources for schools. The company has also been a Headline Platinum Partner of the EUN's eLearning Awards for the past three years.
