European Schoolnet’s Agile Collection of Information

This report by European Schoolnet summarises insights from 17 education systems in 16 European countries about screen time and digital device use in schools. It highlights policy concerns, especially around mobile phones, focusing on mental and physical health, as well as disruptions in concentration.

Education authorities are responding by empowering teachers to manage device use, forming expert groups, and creating guidelines. Some countries have issued regulations, but no action has been taken, so far, to restrict digital learning resources. Digitalisation in schools continues, with some authorities providing guidance on healthy tech habits and digital literacy, while others integrate device policies into broader school initiatives.
