image This webinar series focuses on the meaningful and ethical use of digitally processed data for student learning and aims to facilitate an open exchange between relevant actors in education on what works and what does not – and most importantly on how to move forward together.

While digital technologies are constantly and rapidly evolving, regulatory frameworks struggle to keep up to provide up-to-date relevant guidance and protection to students, who may be seen as data objects and passive receivers of assumed benefits. It might be important therefore to consider developing and fostering an ecosystem, consisting of interdependent and interconnected communities of stakeholders (schools and their staff, students and their parents/guardians, teacher educators, technology providers, publishers, education authorities and national agencies, municipalities, etc.) interacting within an education system. Interdependence ensures that what happens in one part of the system affects other parts. The webinar addressed questions such as: How can we ensure that a robust ecosystem is set in place to oversee the increasing use of data in education? Why is it important to ensure the exchange and interoperability of data in education systems? How can we design suitable governance processes for such an ecosystem? How do we best define the infrastructure to be put in place? Who should own the data and what are the actors to be involved in such process?
