image Online learning – particularly when offered at scale in the form of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) – offers the potential to address the constant, global need for more teacher training. Nevertheless, there are many reasons why teachers may be hesitant to study in a fully online programme.

A modified face-to-face learning experience may be considered as an option, but it calls for careful consideration to achieve a meaningful integration between onsite and online components. This report, based on the outputs of 2nd European Schoolnet Academy Thematic Seminar, offers a review of existing research on the topic of Blended Learning in Teacher Education & Training as well as a summary of three recent examples from across Europe.
