PATHWAY: The Pathway to Inquiry Based Science Teaching

PATHWAY project evaluated existing educational methods to promote the effective, widespread use of inquiry- and problem-based science teaching in schools in Europe and beyond.

The aim of the project was to set a pathway toward standards in inquiry based science education (IBSE) and to support teachers and schools in adopting this approach. The project focused on the following areas: inquiry activities for schools, connecting schools and science centres, connecting schools with scientific research, teacher professional development.

Pathway project was coordinated by the Centre of Maths and Science Education, University of Bayreuth, Germany. European Schoolnet was leading the testing and validation of the proposed IBSE approaches and activities to identify their impact on students' motivation and learning outcomes.
