TeachUP is a policy experimentation building on the ET2020 Working Group on Schools, which highlighted the need for quality teacher education on the new role and competences of teachers throughout their career.

To meet these needs, TeachUP will develop online courses; test and compare two course modules with different instructional designs and delivery modes in a randomised controlled trial; and run multi-stakeholder national and European Dialogue Labs.

TeachUP will give an opportunity to training providers and policy makers to exchange knowledge on Initial Teacher Education (ITE) and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) via European Dialogue Labs to support co-operation. TeachUP will also develop four online courses as well as test and compare two course modules by allowing schools and teacher training institutions to participate in the courses. This will enable both student teachers and teachers to acquire new competences and support their professional development. The main result of the project is a provision of concrete evidence from the online course field trials in order to improve the quality of teacher education.
