Since 1994, 5 October marks the World Teachers' Day, a day that commemorates their relentless efforts to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 of ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. The theme of this year is: "Teachers: Leading in crisis, reimagining the future".

Teachers face an increasing number of challenges in their daily work in the classroom. They therefore need more training opportunities that relate to their daily practice and that they can combine flexibly with their busy teaching schedules.

In the context of the COVID-19 outbreak that affected 1.6 billion learners worldwide with country-wide school closures, most teachers were forced to adapt to an emergency remote teaching setting relying heavily on digital technologies, reinforcing inequalities of vulnerable learners.

The European Schoolnet Academy released its new course catalogue for Autumn. A new set of five courses are available for teachers and other education professionals from September 2020.

Should schools reopen before or after summer vacation? Schools around Europe are slowly beginning to reopen but great disparities exist between countries and the school calendar has never been so undefined for millions of learners. Even when their health situation is comparable, the answers diverge.
