New European Schoolnet Academy courses

Are you looking for tools to integrate coding in any subject you teach? What can you learn from games to foster your teaching and learning practices? The European Schoolnet Academy is offering new, free online courses to give you inspiration for your teaching and help you be one step ahead of the new trends in education!

Games-in-SchoolsOur first new exciting MOOC “Games in Schools” will show you what you can learn from games for your teaching. How can computer games be used in schools to foster teaching and learning anything from Math to Languages? Where can you find practical examples of gaming tools and activities to use in your daily teaching practice? The course will address all this and much more. Run jointly by European Schoolnet and ISFE (The Interactive Software Federation of Europe), the course will open on 27 October and will last for 6 weeks. You can already enroll in the course and join the course Facebook group and follow the Twitter course hashtag #gamescourse to share your ideas on the topic.

Games-in-Schools In our second MOOC “How to teach computing An Introduction to Concepts, Tools and Resources for Secondary Teachers” you will learn how to teach computing in general and coding in particular. No matter what subject you teach, computing is increasingly relevant in all areas of life so you need to know how to integrate it into your teaching! In this course you will be introduced not only to key computing concepts such as coding, but you will also discover resources and tools relevant to teaching these concepts across any subject at secondary level. The course, starting on 3 November, will last for 6 weeks and will have a very practical focus, exploring specific activities to run in the classroom. Competences-for-21st-century-schools The course "Competences for 21st century schools" is intended for teachers and other educational professionals interested in competence-based education. The course aims to provide you with a thorough introduction to the topic, as well as make you aware of the issues and challenges related to making competence-based education a reality in the classroom. Furthermore, teachers will be given concrete tips on how to implement project-based learning, a particularly suitable method for delivering competence-based education, as well as on how to assess this type of learning.
