New Massive Online Open Course (MOOC) about STEM careers

European Schoolnet invites teachers to register for the upcoming Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) 'Opening minds to STEM careers' MOOC for STEM teachers'. This MOOC is a joint initiative of three projects, Scientix – funded by Horizon 2020, SYSTEMIC – funded by Erasmus+, and STEM Alliance, which is privately funded.

The aim of this MOOC is to inform, train and empower primary and secondary teachers in successfully introducing and attracting young people to choose STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) careers from an early age, as well as to learn about private and public initiatives in STEM education.

This course is an opportunity for teachers who want to understand the current state of play of industries and companies, through online lessons and information about STEM career guidance and development.

Starting on 3 April 2017, the MOOC is expected to last between 4 to 9 weeks maximum and is completely free of charge. It includes a total of 8 modules (two modules per week) and an extra week of grace at the end of the course, while the workload is estimated as of 2-3 hours/week. It is estimated that participants need around 25 hours to complete the course successfully.

About the European Schoolnet Academy

The MOOC is hosted on the European Schoolnet Academy, a platform where you can learn about innovation in the school and classroom through online professional development courses for teachers in primary and secondary schools.

As for assessment strategies and evaluation methodologies, there will be quizzes, peer reviews and self-reviews. At the end of the MOOC, digital badges and digital certificates will be distributed to the participants.
