The RRI Tools Final Conference: Responsible Research and Innovation IN ACTION

European Schoolnet showed at this final conference of the RRI Tools project on 21 - 22 November how the principles and practices of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) can be incorporated and how to address it in order to educate researchers, innovators and the citizens of tomorrow

Viola Pinzi, Science Projects Officer at European Schoolnet, and Rosina Malagrida, Head of Living Lab for Health, coordinator of the European Xplore Health educational portal, deputy coordinator of the European RRI, moderated the workshop “Learning by doing” to present these principles at the conference.

The session started with a RRI market place, presenting 11 examples of EU-funded projects that all dealt with the implementation of RRI in educational processes. Following this initial activity, the participants discussed the different phases of the Research and Innovation process where it is possible to intervene. The STEM Alliance initiative was among those projects presented at the workshop.

Although the RRI Tools project is reaching its end, this last event served as a platform to share opinions and to reflect on current state of affairs, while also discussing future policy towards a more open science and innovation society.

The conference addressed a great number of stakeholders involved in research and innovation activities, including researchers and research organisations, policy makers, business and industry representatives, members of the science education community and civil society organisations.

Both the overall event and the session led by European Schoolnet were a success. More information about the programme of the event can be found here!
