Through a selection of timeless European films, immerse yourself and your students in film education. Breathe life into your history, French, or geography lessons by compiling them with our selection of films and documentaries from the European film heritage.

The European Film Factory (EFF) is a platform dedicated to raising awareness on the importance of film education and the diversity and richness of European films. Interactive and free, the EFF platform offers to teachers and students (11-18 years old) a catalogue of 10 European films and documentaries as well as educational kits produced by teachers from all over Europe.

In the educational kits, teachers can discover the film historical context and the cinematographic elements of each film of the platform. They can also access ready to use lesson plans and classroom activities that can be implemented in every classroom across Europe, no matter the level of prior knowledge of the teacher. They are excellent resources to support you in teaching the art of film in your classrooms.

Through film education, students can develop their critical thinking skills as well as become aware of social and cultural issues. In the platform, you have the opportunity to create clips, develop collective and individual mind maps with your students and mark up film scenes. EFF is an innovative educational tool that gives free rein to the imagination of you and your students.

To assist you in exploring the platform and to help you use the various educational kits, 15 teachers of the EFF focus group held a series of webinars presenting the educational resources and the functionalities of the platform in 9 languages. The webinar recordings are available on YouTube.

With the support of European Schoolnet, we aim to build a cinematic heritage and raise awareness of film studies among teachers and students through a selection of European classics available in 8 languages and accessible in all member countries of the Creative Europe Media programme. EFF is the fruitful result of a collaboration between Institut français, ARTE Education and European Schoolnet in the common wish to create a community of European teachers and students through film heritage.
