Bringing together examples from Croatia, Greece, Italy, Malta and Slovenia, these case studies show how teachers and school leaders are working with data in their own contexts. They reflect a range of approaches, from teacher-led initiatives to more structured, system-level strategies.

 

Building on the earlier Mapping Analysis, which highlighted gaps and fragmentation in how data literacy is supported across Europe, this work looks more closely at how initiatives are implemented in practice. The case studies were developed through exchanges with stakeholders involved in each initiative, offering a grounded view of how data is interpreted and used within schools.

Looking across the cases, it becomes clear that data literacy is shaped just as much by what happens in schools as by national policies. It depends on how teachers and school leaders work together and make sense of data in their own context.

 

Developed within the EVIDALI project, this work contributes to the broader objective of strengthening data literacy in schools and supporting more informed approaches to education. By focusing on real practices, the case studies help make data use more concrete and easier to relate to.
