A Glimpse into European Schoolnet's 2025 Work Programme

For over 25 years, our mission has been clear: to improve the quality of education for all by fostering collaboration, driving innovation, and addressing societal challenges that impact education.

With this purpose, every year European Schoolnet presents a new plan of activities to renew its commitment. The 2025 Work Programme is addressing the critical issues shaping the future of education informing the public of the key priorities for the year ahead.

Here's a glimpse at what's in store:

1. Innovating education policy
Innovation begins with informed decisions. As part of our  policy learning initiative, we are committed to providing actionable insights and reliable data to help ministries of education navigate a rapidly evolving educational landscape. We offer timely updates on key trends and developments, as well as we foster policy exchanges and learning among policymakers and key stakeholders with the aim to inform policy recommendations and promote policy learning across Europe.

2. Supporting digital well-being and online safety
In today's digital world, ensuring the well-being and safety of children and young people is paramount. Through initiatives like the Better Internet for Kids (BIK) programme, we're addressing online risks while promoting safe and positive digital environments. This includes the launch of the MOOC: "Child Online Safety: What Educators Need to Know", a resource designed to empower educators with practical strategies and knowledge.

3. Strengthening digital skills for all
The future is digital, and we're dedicated to equipping all citizens: students, teachers, and beyond, with the competences they need to thrive. By supporting the EU's Digital Decade goals, we aim to bridge skill gaps and prepare communities for a technology-driven world.

4. Advancing STEM education
STEM education is at the heart of innovation, yet challenges such as declining performance and gender disparities persist. Building on the success of our Eminent 2024 flagship event, we're doubling down on efforts to make STEM more engaging and inclusive for all students, with a particular focus on inspiring girls to pursue these fields.

5. Empowering educators and schools
Great teachers are the foundation of great education systems. Our professional development programmes, including the Future Classroom Lab and EUN Academy, offer educators opportunities to refine their skills, embrace innovative teaching methods, and collaborate with peers across Europe. By investing in teacher empowerment, we're investing in the future of learning.

Looking forward
As we share our 2025 Work Programme, we do so with a sense of purpose and optimism. Together with our members, partners, and the broader education community, we're charting a path toward a brighter future—one where education is inclusive, innovative, and prepared to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world.

European Schoolnet's 2025 Work Programme isn't just a plan: it's a vision for the future of education. It reminds us that transformation is possible when we work together, leveraging data, innovation, and community to overcome challenges. As we move forward, this programme will remain an essential pillar not just for our network but for the entire European education ecosystem, shaping a brighter, more inclusive future for all.
