Celebrating a decade of excellence: the closure of the eSafety Label project.

After more than a decade of groundbreaking work, the eSafety Label project is end-ing.

The eSafety Label is a Europe-wide accreditation and support service designed to create a secure, enriching environment for schools, ensuring safe access to online technology as part of the teaching and learning experience. Schools could review their eSafety infrastructure, policies, and practices against national and international standards.

Active in 38 countries, the eSL has represented a thriving community of almost 4,000 educators and national contact points, including Ministries of Education, universities, and Safer Internet Centres.

As we bid farewell to this remarkable initiative, it's time to celebrate its numerous achievements     and the lasting impact it has made.

  1. From 2017 to 2019, the project eSafety Label+ was created under the eSafety Label umbrella and co-funded by theErasmus+ programme of the European Union. The primary goal of the 'eSafety Label+: become the next eSafety Champion' project was to mobilise and foster the exchange of knowledge and best practices among a large community of European teachers, principals, IT advisors, IT counsellors, and other school actors to better prepare schools for a safe and responsible digital future.
  1. In its lifespan, the eSafety Label portal welcomed over 38,500 users from 55 countries.
  1. More than 4,300 labels have been awarded to schools, demonstrating a commitment to   online  safety.
  1. Highlighting also live events, a memorable one happened on Wednesday 20 November 2019, when the "Safer schools, confident teachers, happier pupils" conference took place in Brussels, marking the final conference of the #eSL+ project.

The eSafety Label project has been a testament to collaboration, innovation, and dedication. The team, partners, and contributors have worked tirelessly to reach these milestones, making a profound impact on eSafety. While the project may be ending, its legacy will continue to inspire and guide future digital safety efforts.
