The National Institute of Digital Technologies and Teacher Training (INTEF) in the Spanish Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports have published a report with "Guidelines on the Use of Digital Tools in Education from a Data Protection Perspective".

This report includes a list of 627 digital tools classified according to their degree of compliance with European legislation on personal data protection (GDPR). The aim of these guidelines is to choose digital tools which are not provided by an Educational Administration or by schools. In the Guidelines you will find a traffic light to support teachers in the use of each of the tools.

In order to guide teachers from all educational levels and subjects, the nature of the digital tools included in this report is varied (free software, non-free software, repositories, platforms, websites offering digital content and digital educational content, etc.). All of them are free or have a free trial version.

It is necessary to read this introductory section carefully to understand how to make the most appropriate use of the guidelines, taking into account the explanatory sections, warnings and recommendations. Please also note that these guidelines are nor prescriptive.

As personal data protection is a field subject to continuous changes and updates, these guidelines are a living document which will be updated as required.
