Innovation in Education
European Schoolnet’s remit is to support mainstreaming teaching and learning practice aligned with 21st century standards and expectations for the education of all students.
Besides the work of European Schoolnet Observatory on policy research, our organisation promotes innovation in education mostly by implementing joint innovative pilot projects. This set of activities enables European Schoolnet to position itself as a ‘think tank’ that is able to help Ministries develop policies to support the educational reform process at European level based on evidence and facts.
In January 2012, we launched in our Brussels premises, the Future Classroom Lab, a fully equipped, reconfigurable, teaching and learning space developed by European Schoolnet, its 30 supporting Ministries of Education and several leading educational technology providers. It has been designed as a “Living Lab’ for how ICT can be implemented in schools and where policy makers, ICT suppliers, teachers and educational researchers can come together to:
Around the Future Classroom Lab, a series of EU funded projects aims at tackling the issue of mainstreaming innovation in schools though pilot activities, exchange of best practices, training sessions on site and online as well as designing new learning activities and products:
