The role of teachers is changing: they are becoming less important as transmitters of knowledge and more important as learning coaches, helping students understand their own learning so that they can become life-long learners. That means continuous interaction with students, understanding theirlearning needs and facilitating the learning of students who need assistance. Formative assessment is the tool for this. It allows teachers to modify their teaching according to the learning needs of the students and encourages students to take ownership over their own learning, making them more engaged.
This course offers strategies, material and tools for formative assessment, lays out why it is important, and how it can be implemented in the classroom. In three modules, participants learn about the differences between formative and summative assessment and develop skills to integrate formative assessment in their classes both in theory and in practice. Participants will find concrete examples, discuss and interact with peers, and prepare a lesson plan. All Events
