On 11–12 December 2025, European Schoolnet brought together policymakers, researchers, schools leaders from across Europe in Madrid for its annual conference, EMINENT 2025, organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports of Spain and with the support of the EU-funded projects  Agile EDU and EmpowerED. Centered on the question "When does AI make sense in schools?", the conference explored how artificial intelligence can be used responsibly and purposefully to support learning, teacher development and trust in education systems.

The European Schoolnet Academy Thematic Seminar, Assessing Teacher Learning in Times of AI, invites teachers and teacher trainers to pause, reflect and explore approaches that recognise professional growth beyond checklists and compliance-driven metrics. Together, we will look at ways to make reflection, experimentation and learning-in-action visible, while preserving professional judgement and autonomy. The session offers practical insights to help ensure that teacher learning is recognised, valued and fairly assessed in an AI-rich educational landscape.

Preparing future generations for the digital age is a top priority for European governments, schools, and the EdTech industry. Over the past decade, ambitious national education plans and initiatives have been developed to integrate technology into schools. But how have these technologies actually transformed education for students, teachers, and society as a whole?
