The Amgen Science Teacher Training Initiative provides secondary life science teachers in Europe with meaningful professional development opportunities through a new pilot science education programme.

The Amgen Science Teacher Training Initiative (http://www.scienceteachertraining.com) provides secondary life science teachers in Europe with meaningful professional development opportunities through a new pilot science education programme. The initiative will focus on those teaching science, primarily biology and chemistry, to students aged 12 to 18.

The training sessions are available free of charge for the selected teachers. Funded by the Amgen Foundation and coordinated on its behalf by European Schoolnet, this initiative is being launched in 2012 as a pilot programme in France, Germany, Ireland and Poland.

Training centres in each of the four countries have been carefully selected based on their experience and expertise in running professional development programmes focused on enquiry-based science education for secondary life sciences teachers.
