EMINENT is European Schoolnet’s annual Expert Meeting in Education Networking. This year it was hosted and jointly organised by DZS, the Centre for International Cooperation in Education, and the Czech Ministry of Education. EMINENT brings together experts in education, Ministries of Education representatives and other stakeholders to discuss the latest trends in education and technology.

European Schoolnet’s member Ministries of Education decided to devote EMINENT 2016 to the important topic of Digital Citizenship and its multiple facets. In Prague, we explored issues such as increasing the competence level in digital skills of teachers and learners, supporting the safe and responsible use of the internet, developing online citizenship good practices and how collaboration between various stakeholders supports the development of digital citizenship through the Better Internet for Kids platform, the European eSkills for Jobs campaigns, and the numerous other projects European Schoolnet leads in those fields. Thanks to high level keynote speakers and a variety of presentations, participants had access to a comprehensive state of
play on the topic and were updated on the latest European policy developments.

Within European Schoolnet, the Ministries’ representatives from the Interactive Classroom Working Group have been working on best teaching practices to develop the digital competences of teachers in their classroom. In addition, European Schoolnet is developing numerous resources and training opportunities through its Future Classroom Lab, the eSafety Label and partnerships with industry stakeholders as well as through EU funded projects and services such as eTwinning, I-LINC, ENABLE, FCL Regio and MENTEP.
